Momentum’s business principles are based on:
a commitment to sustainable development;
the recognition of the unprecedented influence
of business in society;
a believe that it is the responsibility of business
to account for all costs, including unintended
environmental and social costs; and
a believe that change is driven by individuals.

The rules and standards of behaviour which guide our operations and activities:
- Commitment to providing excellent standards in client service with the goal of achieving sustainable business practices;
- A believe that ‘doing the right thing’ is very good for business and that sustainable practices and a well aligned Corporate Social Investment programme are essential to succeeding in business;
- Knowledge about and expertise in harnessing the power of the human ‘factor’ – every organization is a reflection of the people who lead and operate in it;
- A focus on results and an eye on long-term success for clients, customers and ourselves;
- A strong desire to ‘walk our talk’ and by doing so to set a good example. (refer to community and below to our commitment to sustainable development);
- Adoption of business practices that encourage the highest level of accountability, integrity, honesty, reliability, and ethical behaviour; and
- Commitment to the 10 principles of the Global Compact.

Momentum demonstrates its commitment to sustainability through:
- Running a virtually paperless office. Our letterhead, fax, memorandum, contracts, reports are available in electronic format only and will be printed only on special request;
- Preparing e-brochures and relying entirely on electronic communication strategies to advertise activities. And, although we love printed Christmas cards, for the past four years we have send electronic Christmas cards to all our colleagues and friends;
- Purchasing 100% recycled paper for all other purposes;
- Using Raleigh Paper, Navajo, manufactured under strict environmental management systems with Elemental Chorine Free fibre sourced from sustainable, well managed forests for printing business cards and with compliment slips. Navajo contains 20% recycled post consumer waste;
- Recycling all waste as far as possible and cleaning the office with organic cleaners or with micro-fiber cleaning equipment which does not require any chemical cleaning agents at all;
- Saving on energy through opening & closing windows to regulate temperature instead of air-conditioners;
- Keeping lights off and most days, all lights are off except for desk lamps where required;
- Offsetting greenhouse emissions of our travel and other estimated energy consumption annually through Greenfleet, the first not-for-profit forestry offset organisation to become an Approved Abatement Provider under the Federal Government’s Greenhouse Friendly™ initiative. Investment in Greenfleet projects generating approved Greenhouse Friendly™ offsets will make a real difference in the fight against climate change www.greenfleet.com.au;
- Supporting renewable electricity generation by subscribing to PureEnergy with Energy Australia; and
- Running meetings according to sustainable principles. This is the most challenging area - keeping our standards sourcing space and catering services through suppliers who do not yet adopt the same principles. We are constantly negotiating with our supplies, however, as a micro enterprise with limited influence have limited success.
